Operations Systems Specialist

What you’ll be doing:  

The objective of the Operations Systems Specialist role within the Airline Operations Technology team is to work collaboratively with Virgin Australia’s Workforce Planning and Crew Tracking teams to improve systems that support them in achieving their business objectives. In doing so, the Operations Systems Specialist will work closely with their business customers and other technology teams to support innovative outcomes that help the Workforce Planning and Crew Tracking teams maintain compliance and improve operational efficiency. 

The objective of the Airline Operations Technology team is to partner closely with our customers in achieving their goals in safety, compliance and efficiency; using innovative systems, solutions and specialist advice. 

You’ll be great in this role if you have:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Business Management or related field, or equivalent professional experience 

  • 3-5 years’ (or more) experience as a System Analyst, Business Analyst or Subject Matter Expert. 

  • Experience and functional expertise in airline rostering systems (AirCrews, IBS Pairings/PBS) or other operational systems 

  • Demonstrated skills in gathering business requirements, problem solving, identifying and assessing solutions 

  • Experience in system configuration, maintenance and support 

  • Experience in system test case development and testing 

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external stakeholders 

  • Exposure to project planning and delivery 

  • Experience in initiating and driving improvements to process, policy and systems to improve performance 

Desirable but not essential: 

  • Previous experience working in a Workforce Planning or Integrated Operations Centre related position 

  • Experience working in a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulated environment 

  • Great understanding of Enterprise Agreements and working within their constraints
