Senior CloudOps Specialist

What you’ll be doing

The objective of the Senior CloudOps Specialist role is to to be a thought leader around cloud technologies, both established and emerging, and to use that knowledge and experience to build and deploy highly scalable solution to accelerate VAs cloud journey. Your experience with AWS and Kubernetes is paramount to this role. 

Further responsibilities:

  • Thought leadership around established and emerging cloud technologies. 
  • Maintain and enhance infrastructure as code practices
  • Delivery of cloud infrastructure through infrastructure as code 
  • Seek opportunities for improvements and champion changes to technology, including automation
  • Support both agile and waterfall ways of working minimising contention between teams.
  • Ensure streamlined end-to-end processes that minimise hand-offs within IT
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and successfully implementing change initiatives.
  • Provide indirect leadership to developers engaged in project delivery to drive consistency across projects and alignment to the Virgin Australia technology roadmap and architectural standards

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • At least 5 years’ experience in AWS or equivalent public cloud services, and 1 year experience as technical leader is advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of AWS, DevOps, Kubernetes, Networking, Infrastructure as Code, as well as security in the public cloud space
  • Knowledge of infrastructure deployment patterns
  • Ability to develop requirements into effective solutions
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and process development/improvement skills
  • Proven ability to effectively plan, prioritise and manage multiple and competing activities to meet business expectations
  • Excellent understanding of IT systems architecture, enabling effective integration and optimization of technological solutions.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and successfully implementing change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of coding practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
